Thanks for sharing this article on whether restaurant reviews have become too formulaic and are unnecessarily limited and self-limiting in their formulas. The analogy asks us to question whether the same is true for the kinds of essay performances we ask of our students. One note: at the end of the day, though, when reading a restaurant review, I think I’m always going to want to know the same thing: is the food any good there?
